Frequently asked questions.

FAQs

  • We’re located in Dromana on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. Our farm sits on 20 peaceful acres where we’ve been caretakers of the land and animals for over 16 years. Visits to meet our goats are welcomed by appointment as part of our adoption or servicing process.

  • Pygmy goats are not only joyful companions—they also bring a range of practical and regenerative benefits to your land. Their natural browsing behaviour helps manage undergrowth, blackberry, and woody weeds without disturbing the soil, making them excellent allies in low-impact land management. Their manure adds valuable nutrients back into the soil, supporting microbial activity and soil fertility. With rotational grazing and thoughtful management, goats can help regenerate tired pasture, reduce fire risk, and promote more resilient and diverse ecosystems. Beyond their utility, Pygmy goats bring warmth, charm, and a unique sense of connection to the land, making them a beautiful addition to family properties, hobby farms, or small-scale regenerative projects.

  • Like any animals, Pygmy goats require ongoing care, secure fencing, and health management. They are clever and curious, so fencing must be goat-proof to prevent escapes. They can also become unwell if their diet or environment isn't well managed. Having the time, space, and commitment to meet their needs is essential—and we’re always here to support you on the journey.

  • Our Pygmy kids are typically ready for their new homes between 10 to 12 weeks of age, once they are fully weaned, eating independently, and emotionally resilient enough to settle into a new environment. Their wellbeing is our priority, and we take the time to ensure they are confident and thriving before leaving.

  • To truly thrive, Pygmy goats need more than just food and shelter—they need companionship, space to explore, mental stimulation, and daily interaction. They are intelligent, affectionate animals that bond deeply with their herd and caretakers. A safe, enriching environment with climbing logs, shade, and a routine of gentle care will keep them happy and well.

  • Pygmy goats thrive on a balanced diet of quality hay, fresh water, and a small amount of grain or pellets as needed—particularly for pregnant or lactating does. They also enjoy safe forage like shrubs, tree trimmings, and weeds. We provide feeding guidance with every adoption to help you support their health and digestion naturally.

  • Before your goats arrive, you’ll need a secure paddock with goat-proof fencing, a dry shelter with clean bedding, access to fresh water, and suitable feed. Goats also love enrichment—logs to climb, shade to rest in, and space to play. We provide a care guide and are always happy to answer questions.

  • No—Pygmy goats are incredibly social animals and rely on companionship to stay happy and healthy. We only sell our kids in minimum pairs, or to homes that already have an established herd. A bonded companion helps prevent loneliness and stress, and creates a more peaceful and enriched life for the goats.

  • We have a simple and thoughtful application process designed to ensure the right match.

    • First, complete the application form on our website.

    • Deb will then reach out to chat with you about your setup, experience, and intentions.

    • If it feels like a good fit, we’ll invite you to visit the farm to meet the kids and connect in person before confirming your adoption.

  • Yes. We believe strongly in connection—between animals and humans, and between us and you. Your visit allows you to meet the goats, observe their personalities, and ask questions. It also gives us confidence that they’re going to a home aligned with our values of care, respect, and responsibility.

  • Yes. All of our goats are pedigree Pygmy goats with clearly recorded lineage, and we breed to maintain strong conformation, gentle temperaments, and beautiful markings. Each listing will include the percentage of Pygmy heritage (e.g., 81.24%, 62.5%) and we’re happy to provide documentation.

  • Yes—all of our goats are professionally disbudded to prevent horn growth. This is a welfare-based decision made to protect the safety of the goat, its herd mates, and human caretakers. Horns can cause serious injury during play, feeding, or dominance behaviour, especially in smaller herds or family environments. Additionally, horned goats are at greater risk of getting caught in fencing, feeders, or shelter structures, which can lead to panic, injury, or even death if they’re not discovered quickly. Disbudding helps ensure a safer, more peaceful environment for all.

  • Yes, we do allow ongoing breeding of our goats, provided it is done ethically and with care. This means prioritising the health and wellbeing of the does, ensuring proper nutrition, rest between pregnancies, and maintaining high standards of husbandry. We’re happy to offer guidance if you are new to breeding.

  • Once you enquire and speak with Deb, we’ll help select the best match for your doe. You’ll then book in a time to bring your girl for a 3–5 day stay. We provide a safe, calm environment and attentive care throughout. Our bucks are respectful and experienced, and we’re happy to update you during the visit.

  • Yes. We offer local delivery across the Mornington Peninsula, and we can assist with recommendations for reputable livestock transport if you’re further afield. Safety and low-stress travel are always prioritised.

  • Yes, all of our goats receive regular veterinary care and are up to date with their vaccinations, worming, and health checks. Each kid is given their initial 5-in-1 vaccination, which protects against common clostridial diseases, and we maintain a routine worming schedule based on seasonal needs and vet guidance. We ensure all kids are thriving, parasite-free, and in excellent health before they go to their new homes. We also provide you with their health history and future care recommendations to support a smooth transition.
